ECCO Size Chart: UK, EU and US Sizes in cm for Men, Women and Kids

ECCO sells in whole EU sizes, and its charts show it: one EU number covers two UK half sizes, so a UK 2.5 and a UK 3 are the same EU 35. ECCO publishes its charts as images with a foot length in cm for every row, which means the best way to use them is to measure your longer foot and read across. This guide transcribes ECCO’s UK, EU and cm charts for women, men and kids, adds the US sizes from ECCO’s Canadian charts, and explains what ECCO says about the thumb’s width rule, going up when you are between sizes, the removable-insole Dual-Fit styles for wider feet, and how new leather settles. It also lists two places where ECCO’s own pages disagree by a tenth of a centimetre, so you can see exactly what we are reading.
Quick answer: On ECCO’s UK charts, EU 39 = UK 6 with a 25.0 cm foot, and EU 42 = UK 8 to 8.5 with a 27.0 cm foot, for both women and men. ECCO says to let your longer foot decide the size, leave about a thumb’s width at the toe, and go up if you are between sizes.

How to Read ECCO’s Charts: Ranges, Not Half Sizes
ECCO’s rows look unusual at first. A row reads 2.5-3 UK, then 35 EU, then 22.3 cm. The hyphen means a range: UK 2.5 and UK 3 both land on EU 35, with the same foot length. Other rows are a single UK size, such as 4.5 or 6. So the EU size is the one that carries the shoe, and the UK column is the conversion from it.
That has one practical consequence. ECCO’s charts offer no separate half size for you to choose, and the pages we read do not discuss half sizes at all. If you are a UK 8.5, you are in the same row as a UK 8, EU 42, and the row’s foot length, 27.0 cm, is what you are matching. If your foot is a little longer than the row, the guidance on this page is to go up a size.
The charts are images with the sizes written in them, and some have unlabeled columns, which we explain in the notes at the end. In every case the three columns are the same: UK, EU and foot length in cm.
ECCO Women’s Size Chart: UK, EU and cm
ECCO’s women’s chart on its UK store runs from EU 34 to EU 43, which is UK 2 to UK 9.5, with a foot length for each. It is the only women’s chart that labels its columns UK, EU and CM. For the general women’s scale, see our women’s shoe size chart.

ECCO Men’s Size Chart: UK, EU and cm
The men’s chart on ECCO’s UK store runs from EU 35 to EU 49, UK 2.5 to UK 14, with a foot length for each row. The page does not label the three columns, but they match the women’s labeled chart exactly for EU 35 to 43, so we read them as UK, EU and cm. For the general men’s scale, see our men’s shoe size chart.

ECCO Kids’ Size Chart: UK, EU and cm
ECCO’s kids’ chart covers EU 18 to EU 40, UK 3 to UK 7, in two tables on its page. The foot length rises by about 0.6 to 0.7 cm at each EU size. We combined the two tables into one.

ECCO Women’s Size Chart: US, EU and cm
For US sizes, ECCO’s Canadian women’s chart pairs two US sizes with each EU size, for example US 7 and 7.5 with EU 38. The chart image on the page is cropped at the top and the bottom, so we show only the seven rows that were fully visible, EU 36 to 42.
| US | EU | Foot length (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| 5/5.5 | 36 | 23 |
| 6/6.5 | 37 | 23.7 |
| 7/7.5 | 38 | 24.3 |
| 8/8.5 | 39 | 25 |
| 9/9.5 | 40 | 25.7 |
| 10/10.5 | 41 | 26.3 |
| 11/11.5 | 42 | 27 |

ECCO Men’s Size Chart: US, EU and cm
ECCO’s Canadian men’s chart also pairs two US sizes with each EU size. The page shows nine fully visible rows, from US 6/6.5 (EU 40) to US 14/14.5 (EU 48), with more rows clipped above and below.
| US | EU | Foot length (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| 6/6.5 | 40 | 25.7 |
| 7/7.5 | 41 | 26.3 |
| 8/8.5 | 42 | 27 |

ECCO’s Four-Step Method and Why It Starts With the Longer Foot
ECCO’s guides all give the same four steps. Put a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall, with your heel against the wall. Mark the longest part of your foot on the paper, then repeat for the other foot. Measure the length of each mark and match it with the size chart, and let the longest foot decide the shoe size. The guides add two refinements: measure in the late afternoon or evening, when feet are at their largest, and measure while wearing the socks you plan to wear with the shoes, taking into account whether the shoes are for summer or winter.
The result is a number in cm, and ECCO’s charts are built for exactly that. If your longer foot is 25.0 cm, the UK chart’s EU 39 row is your match. If it is 25.3, you are between the 25.0 and 25.6 rows, and the next section’s advice applies. Our guide to measuring your foot at home covers the same method with a checklist.
Between Sizes: ECCO Says Go Up
ECCO’s advice is direct. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger, and the guides say this matters most if you will wear the shoes a lot or with thicker socks. The women’s guide specifically recommends the larger size for long wear. The page does not give a millimetre threshold for what counts as between, so the practical test is the chart itself: if your foot is longer than the row you would otherwise pick, take the next one.
The fit checks ECCO gives are the other half of the test. You should have about a thumb’s width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. At the heel you should be able to slip a finger in behind the ankle without tightness, and there should be no slipping when you walk. The midfoot should feel secure without pressing. Sharp pain means the shoe is wrong, while firmness around the heel or instep is normal and should ease as the leather softens.
Dual-Fit: ECCO’s Answer to a Wider Foot
The most useful fit feature in ECCO’s guides is not a size at all. The men’s guide describes Dual-Fit styles with removable insoles that add width in the toe box and forefront, and presents them as an alternative to sizing up, which it says would leave the heel loose. The women’s guide points to the same Dual-Fit styles for a roomier toe box. ECCO’s site navigation also lists Wider Fit Shoes for women and men and a Wide Fit option in men’s golf, but the pages we read do not explain what those labels measure.
ECCO’s size guides give no width letters, no width measurements for standard fits, and no half sizes. So if your foot is wide, there are two routes on the information ECCO publishes: look for a Dual-Fit style, or go up a size and accept a looser heel, which ECCO itself warns about. As general advice, not ECCO’s, a firm heel counter and a laced upper make the larger size easier to manage than a slip-on would.
Women’s and Men’s Charts: Where They Agree and Where They Don’t
ECCO’s UK charts use the same UK and cm numbers for the same EU size in the women’s and men’s guides, within the sizes both cover, EU 35 to 43. The US numbers, from the Canada charts, are where women’s and men’s differ.
| EU size | UK, women’s | UK, men’s | Foot length (cm), both | US, women’s (Canada) | US, men’s (Canada) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 40 | 6.5-7 | 6.5-7 | 25.6 (UK page) | 9/9.5 | 6/6.5 |
| 41 | 7.5 | 7.5 | 26.3 | 10/10.5 | 7/7.5 |
| 42 | 8-8.5 | 8-8.5 | 27 | 11/11.5 | 8/8.5 |
Source: ECCO UK and Canada size guides.
So an EU 40 is a women’s US 9/9.5 and a men’s US 6/6.5, but the shoe’s foot length is the same. If you are buying across the gender labels, anchor on the EU size and the cm. The UK size is a good bridge, because ECCO lists the same UK range for the same EU size in both charts.
Kids’ Sizes: Measure Often, Leave a Centimetre
The kids’ chart steps in small increments, about 0.6 to 0.7 cm per EU size, so a size can be outgrown quickly. ECCO’s kids’ guide says to measure on paper with the child standing, since standing puts full weight on the foot, to measure both feet and use the longer one, and to measure at the end of the day. It suggests leaving roughly a thumb’s width, about one centimetre, between the longest toe and the end of the shoe, and warns that more room is not always better. For younger children it suggests measuring roughly every three months.
The guide adds that children may not complain, since young feet adapt to tight shoes, and that a shoe that pinches or causes discomfort rather than simply feeling snug is probably the wrong size. The kids’ page does not discuss half sizes, between sizes, widths or socks. For general kids’ conversions, see our kids’ shoe size chart.
New Leather and Break-In
ECCO’s women’s and men’s guides both address the first week. New leather softens over the first week or two, so new shoes may feel snug at first. The test is the difference between firmness and pain. A firm hold around the heel or instep is normal, while sharp pain is a sign the shoe is the wrong size. The guides also recommend trying shoes on indoors on a clean surface before deciding, so that you can still return them.
What We Found in ECCO’s Charts
Reading the charts directly, we noticed four details. First, ECCO’s UK and Canada pages give slightly different foot lengths for the same EU size in four rows.
| EU size | UK page (cm) | Canada page (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| 37 (women’s) | 23.6 | 23.7 |
| 40 | 25.6 | 25.7 |
| 43 (men’s) | 27.6 | 27.7 |
| 46 (men’s) | 29.6 | 29.7 |
Source: ECCO UK and Canada size guides.
The differences are one tenth of a centimetre, which is well within the width of a pen mark, but we show each page as published. Second, the men’s UK chart and the US charts do not label their columns. Third, the Canada chart images are cropped at the top and bottom, so we show only the fully visible rows. Fourth, the women’s UK page says its chart is shown in UK and EU, while the Canada page says US and EU, which is why the US sizes are in a separate table.
Returns: Free for 30 Days
ECCO’s size guides say you can return shoes within 30 days for a full refund, with free returns during that period, and they present that as the cover for sizing mistakes. Combined with the advice to try shoes on indoors on a clean surface, the practical routine is to order your measured size, test it at home, and return it within the window if it is wrong. The pages link to ECCO’s returns policy for details, which we did not read, so check it when you order.
Comparing ECCO With Other Brands
Because ECCO sells in whole EU sizes with a published foot length for each, it is easy to compare by measurement. If you wear Clarks, Vionic or Sperry, find your longer foot’s length and match it to the ECCO row instead of copying a number. For the bigger picture, see our US vs UK vs EU conversion guide.
What we verified and what ECCO does not state
- The women’s UK, men’s UK and kids’ UK tables were read from the chart images on ECCO’s UK size guide pages. The women’s and kids’ charts label their columns UK, EU and CM. The men’s chart does not, so we identified its columns by matching its values to the labeled women’s chart for EU 35 to 43.
- The US tables were read from ECCO Canada’s women’s and men’s size guides. Their columns are unlabeled, and the images are cropped, so only fully visible rows are shown.
- ECCO does not publish a true to size rating, half sizes, width measurements, or style by style size advice on the pages we read, beyond saying that size can vary slightly between styles.
- The general advice on wide feet and heel counters is ours and is labeled as such.
