Salomon and BEAMS Mark 50 Years With a Black XT-QUEST

BEAMS turns 50 this year, and it is marking the anniversary with Salomon. The XT-QUEST BEAMS collection is built around the theme of Hybridisation and a line BEAMS describes as Born in the Alps, Refined in Tokyo. It has seven pieces in all, led by a black all-weather XT-QUEST with ski boot buckle details, and the rollout starts in Tokyo on November 6.

What is in the collection

The centerpiece is the footwear. It borrows the buckle look of a ski boot and pairs it with a contaGRIP outsole, Advanced Chassis and sensiFIT, plus waterproof GORE-TEX and ripstop materials, according to Hypebeast. It comes in black at 42,240 yen with tax.

Around it sit the clothes: a nylon jacket at 33,440 yen with a zippered pouch and bungee cord on the back that nods to a backpack, and matching nylon pants at 21,120 yen. Both use windproof, durable ripstop. Hypebeast notes the range extends to other apparel and accessories to make up the seven models.

How the XT-QUEST fits in

According to BEAMS, the collection pre-releases at BEAMS Harajuku on Friday, November 6, with a launch party from 19:00 to 21:00 the same day. Sales open at BEAMS stores and the BEAMS online shop on Saturday, November 7. From Thursday, November 12 it rolls out in stages to Salomon’s directly managed stores in Japan and globally.
