Converse Japan lists two dates. On Saturday, November 7, the pair goes on sale at Converse directly operated stores, NEIGHBORHOOD stores, the NEIGHBORHOOD online shop and NEIGHBORHOOD authorized retailers. The Converse Official Online Shop follows on Monday, November 9. Some outlets quote only the November 9 date, which matches the online launch. The price is 22,000 yen with tax, and sizes run from 24.0 to 30.0 cm. No US release or US price has been announced.
What the shoe looks like
The base is the ALL STAR LGCY, Converse Japan’s flagship take on the 1970s All Star shape with a more modern fit and comfort. NEIGHBORHOOD swaps the usual canvas for a sturdy cord cloth, the same fabric the brand uses in its outerwear, then adds a special washed finish. The tape and laces get an aged treatment too, so the shoe reads as vintage straight out of the box.
Branding is understated. A NEIGHBORHOOD logo sits on the outer ankle area and on the insole. The heel label is where it gets playful: the standard Converse label and a NEIGHBORHOOD-original label alternate between the heel and the side, so the left and right shoes are not identical.
Who it suits
This is for anyone who likes a Chuck 70 style high top but wants a beaten-in look without waiting a year of wear. The black upper and off-white midsole are easy to pair with denim, work pants or cargo shorts. If you collect NEIGHBORHOOD, it is also a rare chance at a Converse collab from the label.
