Clarks Classics Go Hiking: The Diemme Wallabee, Desert Boot and Desert Trek

Italian boot maker Diemme has taken three of the best known Clarks Originals shapes, the Wallabee, the Desert Boot and the Desert Trek, and rebuilt them on mountain boot parts. The three-piece collection is set to release on November 5, with a reported price of $620, and Diemme is named as the place to buy it.

What is in the collection

Each shoe keeps its Clarks identity but swaps the parts that touch the ground and the laces. The Wallabee comes in a champagne suede sourced from Charles F. Stead, the British tannery. The Desert Boot uses Clarks’ familiar Cola suede. The Desert Trek is the one that changes most: it is cut as a mid-height boot in black full-grain leather.

All three share the same underneath. Diemme fitted the lug sole from its Roccia Vet and Cornaro boots, added hiking D-rings for lacing and finished the shoes with a rubber mudguard that has a crepe-inspired texture. They are made at Diemme’s family factory in Veneto, Italy.

How it differs from a standard pair

A regular Wallabee or Desert Boot sits on a soft crepe-style sole built for city walking. Here the sole is chunkier and deeper, which should give more grip on wet or uneven ground, though the brands have not published performance claims. If you like the look of a crepe sole, our guide to crepe sole shoes explains what you give up and gain with that material. For sizing on the Clarks side, the Clarks sizing guide is a good starting point, but check Diemme’s own size notes since the construction is different.

Who it suits

This is for people who already own a Desert Boot and want something with more attitude, or who like the trail-boot look without wearing a full hiking boot. At $620 it sits well above regular Clarks pricing, so it is closer to a collector or style purchase than an everyday replacement. Where to buy

The collaboration is reported as a Diemme release, so the brand’s own site is the place to watch on November 5, and the official Clarks Originals page lists the regular range. If the collection sells out or you want the original shapes to compare, these Clarks classics are available on Amazon.
